Americans Are Calling For Freedom In The US

The hashtag #SOSUSA became one of Twitter’s top political trends this weekend, as thousands of Americans posted calling for freedom in the United States and protesting poverty, police brutality, and a lack of free healthcare.

Many of the posts were in response to videos of a Los Angeles Police officer shooting a protester in the face at close range with a rubber bullet and attacking other protesters with clubs.

Several tweets from self-described American communists called on foreign leaders, including Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Chinese President Xi Jinping, to condemn US police brutality or even “liberate” the country.

Mapping The State’s Strategy Of Repression Against The Rebellion

While the recent rebellion against the police and white supremacy has been historical, it has also been coupled by an attempt by the State to drown the uprising in a sea of tear-gas and rubber bullets. While demonstrations and actions continue, the State is now gearing up for a more long-term strategy of repression, as a vast network of FBI agents, attorneys, and local police comb through hours of footage and social media, looking for targets.

Already, over 10,000 people have been arrested across the so-called US and around 75 currently have federal charges; many of which carry extensive prison sentences. Moreover, there are reports of FBI door-knocks and visits to those that have recently been arrested. Often times people are being asked if they are involved in “antifa” while some are even propositioned with becoming informants.

Last Night Julian Assange Called Me. Here Is What We Talked About

Last night, immediately after our first DiEM25 TV event, my phone rang. It was Julian. From prison. It was not that first time that he honoured me deeply by using the few phone calls prison allows him to make to call me. Like every other such occasion, when I unexpectedly recognise his voice a torrent of emotions comes flooding in. Guilt, primarily, at the thought that, the moment the line is disconnected, he will remain there – in the exceedingly dark place to which he has been confined because of a decision he made long ago to help the rest of us grasp what the powers-that-be have been doing on our behalf without our knowledge or consent.

Julian wanted to talk about the effects of Covid-19 on the world we live in and, of course, on his case.

The Travesty Of Julian Assange’s Prosecution Raises Wider Issues

In all societies that are pleased to describe themselves as adherents to the basic principle we commonly refer to as the “rule of law” there are certain basic fundamental principles that are taken as the bedrock of the system. Among the foremost of these principles is that all citizens are deemed to be equal before the law. There is one set of laws and all are expected to adhere to those laws.

Assange Extradition Hearing Is Damocles Sword Over Journalists’ Heads. But UK Mainstream Media Participate In His Crucifixion

Assange extradition hearing should be the top story for the British media as it’s a dagger at their throat, but the majority of mainstream press either don’t care, or are actively participating in Wikileaks’ founder crucifixion. Having myself been born onto the path of resistance and having by reason of chance and circumstance little choice but to resist, I am drawn to those who have chosen to stand there with me when not only had they alternatives…

Chile’s Piñera And His Repressive Laws Versus The Subversion Of A People

The months of rebellion that the people of Chile are experiencing have caused them to ask themselves questions, which require quick answers because if they are not answered as soon as possible they open up the possibility of a scenario that the ruling class in power does not like and will make every effort to undermine. The thoughts, purposes, beliefs and reflections left to us last October 18 show us how the subversion of one of the most suffering peoples of Latin America…
